What takes a golf vacation from great to exceptional?

When you head off on a golf vacation you know you will be play some of the most amazing courses that your chosen destination has to offer, but no destination is all about the golf.  Playing golf every day, for 10 days straight might just be a bit over the top, even for the most fanatical golf enthusiast among us!

This is why all Golf & Tours holidays we have sufficient rest days to allow our guests access to some of the best non-golf elements of the destinations we travel to. Wherever possible these elements are within easy walking distance of the accommodation so stepping out on your days off golf can bring you some of the best experiences of the trip.

Take our Canada tour departing this August (you can see the full itinerary here).  This trip includes some of the best things to do in British Columbia, when you’re not on the golf course.

Vancouver

Canada Ladies Golf Holiday Golf & ToursFirst and last stop on the Canada Tour is the wonderful city of Vancouver. There are so many amazing places in this city it could fill an entire series of travel blogs all by itself!  For this blog we will just focus on one area of the city that is quite literally a couple of minutes’ walk from the hotel.  Gastown is Vancouver’s most historic neighbourhood and dates back to 1867.

The cobble stone walkways and amazing period architecture provide an amazing and immersive backdrop for some of Vancouver’s best shopping, hip restaurants and edgy cafes.  You can take a guided walking tour or just explore for yourself an area of the city filled with historically significant sites, such as the famous musical steam clock.  There is great shopping to be found in Gastown whether you are looking for boutique fashion, original homewares or indie art, you will find something to catch your interest.

Whistler

Canada Ladies Golf Holiday Golf & ToursKnown to many as one of the top ski destinations in the world, Whistler in the summertime provides a whole host of Canadian experiences and activities that help you explore a different face of this town.   For the adventurous, Whistler is one of those places that seemingly has it all. If you’re up for it you can do just about any adrenaline experience you can think of such as:

  • Zip lining
  • Bungy Jumping
  • Mountain Biking
  • River rafting

But these aren’t for everyone!  For those who like adventure at a more controlled and sedate pace Whistler has a host of options.  For instance, the Peak 2 Peak Gondola lift that links Whistler Mountain with Blackcomb Mountain Rendezvous Lodge. The views are breathtaking, and in the summer months you will be able to see more of the local wildlife such and birds and bears in safety and comfort from the glass bottomed gondola.

And what’s Golf & Tours adventure without an amazing spa visit? In Whistler its hard to go past the Scandinave Spa, with its own hot pools, sauna and massage facilities.  A perfect way to revive your body and mind.

Kelowna

Canada Ladies Golf Holiday Golf & ToursLast stop on this Canada tour is Predator Ridge Golf Resort, near Kelowna. Here we are staying at a 36 hole golf resort set on the edge of Ellison Provincial Park in the Okanagan Valley.  The surrounding country side offers a bewildering selection of activities in and around the resort, such as walking and cycling trails, fitness centres, indoor and outdoor pools and fantastic restaurants.   We’ll also venture into Kelowna, a laid back, easy going city, surrounded by vineyards on the Eastern shore of the Okanagan Lake.  Set in British Columbia’s wine country, we will definitely be indulging in some wine tasting, all with a designated driver!

These are just some of the best things to do in British Columbia.  At Golf & Tours we believe that a trip of a lifetime doesn’t involve sitting on a 52 seater bus.  We also think it has to include lots of authentic activities and experiences that are unique to the area that we’re travelling to.

We’d love you to join us on our next golf holiday to Canada, and join us as we experience some of the best things to do in British Columbia.  For more information, please contact us here.
