Vastfontein Community Transformation exists to uplift vulnerable communities by empowering and equipping people for a sustainable future. Using an holistic approach, they address physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, relational, economic and social needs in the community. Their mission is to close the poverty gap through education, and strengthening communities and empowering future generations to contribute meaningfully to the South African economy.
Batho Pele Christian School is part of Vastfontein Community Transformation (NPC) and the school is committed to providing quality, private education while fostering spiritual, academic, and personal development to disadvantaged children in the community who can’t afford it. This serves to facilitate closing the poverty gap by equipping and giving learners opportunity for a better future. By embracing 21st Century education, learners are taught to think critically, be creative, collaborate effectively and communicate confidently. This approach equips students with the skills and mindset to become leaders, entrepreneurs, and active contributors to South African economy.
$1.50 pays for a day of high quality education for a girl in a Calcutta slum
In the male-dominated slums of Calcutta, girls come second in every way. They are rarely sent to school, and often end up forced into child marriages, child labor or sex trafficking.
Even for families who do want schooling for their girls, a decent education is unaffordable.
By providing education and academic tutoring, Her Future Coalition ensures that girls have the chance of breaking the cycle of poverty and exploitation by getting a quality education.
Our commitment to these girls is long term. Many of the girls who begin our programs as young children have gone on to college, and are now empowered to transform their families and communities from within.

In Australia, single women over 50 are the fastest growing group to experience homelessness due to financial vulnerability and lack of affordable housing. Barriers to mainstream employment and socio-economic inclusion are often due to disability, carer responsibilities and a lack of job opportunities -particularly in regional Australia.
Global Sisters supports women who are challenged to participate economically but are deeply motivated to be self-employed.
Global Sisters business development support is long-term and equips women to launch and grow their own businesses. Being self-employed enables women to ‘stand tall’, creating a ripple effect of change in their families and communities.
2.7 million women have experienced violence (physical and/or sexual) by an intimate partner or family member since the age of 15.
Frontline sexual, domestic and family violence services are at capacity with demand for trauma-specialist support and counselling increasing year-on-year.
Women who aren’t able to access trauma-specialist support are at increased risk of being subject to escalating violence.
Full Stop Australia is one of the oldest sexual, domestic and family violence response and recovery services in the country and is dedicated to providing free trauma-specialist support and counselling to thousands of women impacted by violence and abuse. Full Stop Australia provides 24/7 continuing care from crisis through to recovery.
Since its founding in 1975 by Maggie Vaile, a local businesswoman, the Zonta Club of Northern Beaches has been committed to empowering women and girls. Zonta Club of Northern Beaches makes practical contributions to:
- Women’s Domestic Violence shelters.
- Food, kitchen starter kits, and work skills grants for women to re-enter the workforce
- Student support grants assist Years 10 to 12 girls to achieve their best
- Breast care cushions are made and distributed to local hospitals
- Community birthing kits packing days held in schools to send to developing countries to assist in clean birthing practices
- Zonta International projects to end child marriage and eliminate violence against women and girls
