The Dunas Course at Terras da Comporta, designed by David McLay Kidd, opened in 2023, and has already established itself in the top tier of continental golf. The fescue feast of Dunas plays like a links course and sits 1km from the Atlantic Ocean. The holes are routed along wide fairways lined by corridors of mature trees, where playability off the tee is paramount – with sandy waste areas populated with some native vegetation – you need strategy on every tee shot. There is always a better side of the fairway to approach the green from and sometimes dramatic reward for a bold line.
Non-Golfers
Today, after the golfers are dropped off for golf at Dunas, our non-golfers will enjoy a tour of Comporta, one of Portugal’s trendiest and most exclusive resort towns. Renowned for its unspoiled natural beauty and miles of pristine beaches, this coastal town is home to a mix of artists and A listers. The environment has been preserved for years, in part thanks to its status as a highly protected nature reserve (look out for huge nesting storks and flamingos in the river), in addition to previously being owned by the Espírito Santo banking family (Portugal’s leading banking group), which closely oversaw any development. Days here are unhurried. It’s an easy, breezy stylish existence in this part of Portugal, with comparisons to New York’s Hamptons. Comporta is a small village in size, but it is full of sophisticated restaurants, tastefully designed stores and chic hotels.
Located in the Algarve, within the Ria Formosa Natural Park, the 5 Star Ria Park Hotel & Spa is surrounded by a verdant valley from where you can see the beach and the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Golfers
This Cabell Robinson designed course is simply spectacular and captures the natural essence of the surrounding area. Finca Cortesin is ranked in the top 5 golf courses in Spain by the Golf World Magazine, and US Masters champion Sergio Garcia compared the greens with those at Augusta National for their quality and speed when he played here. The service, clubhouse and grounds are the epitome of style and luxury, and it was the host of the 2023 Solheim Cup.
Non-Golfers
Today, while the golfers are off playing golf, you’ll have the day at leisure to explore and relax around the gorgeous beachfront Hotel Amàre Marbella. This adult only hotel located right on the promenade and only a 5 minute walk from Marbella’s old town, includes an outdoor swimming pool, and a fabulous day spa. Indulge in a multi-sensory massage or facial, before extending your pampering in one of their charming relaxation zones.
Farewell Dinner
Join your Host and the rest of the guests for one final dinner together (included).
