Play Golf in South Africa | Luxury Small Group Golf Tours & Safari
Golf & Safari in South Africa — Fully Escorted | 5-Star | All-Inclusive
There’s a moment that stays with every golfer who visits South Africa. You’re standing on the 18th fairway at Leopard Creek, the Kruger National Park stretching out beyond the rope, a family of elephants moving through the bush a hundred metres to your right. You take your shot. You walk off the green. And you think: nowhere else on earth offers this.
South Africa is in a category of its own. This is where championship golf meets the African wilderness, where you can tee off on a course ranked in the country’s Top 5 in the morning, then spend the afternoon tracking lion and leopard through a private game reserve. Where the sundowner isn’t a figure of speech; it’s an open vehicle on the plains, cold drink in hand, as the sky turns gold over the savannah.
At Golf & Tours, we’ve been taking small groups to South Africa for years. We know the courses, the lodges, the drives, and the moments. Our fully escorted, all-inclusive luxury small group golf tours to South Africa are built for golfers and their partners, who want more than a golf trip. They want a journey.
Why South Africa Belongs on Every Golfer’s Bucket List
South Africa gives you things no other golf destination does.
The courses are genuinely world-class. Leopard Creek. The Links at Fancourt. Royal Johannesburg & Kensington. Pearl Valley. Highland Gate. These aren’t just good courses, they’re courses designed by Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus, hosted the DP World Tour and the Presidents Cup, and consistently rank among the finest anywhere in the Southern Hemisphere. And because most of them sit inside or beside game reserves and national parks, the views aren’t just beautiful, they’re unlike anything you’ve seen from a fairway.
The safari experience is extraordinary. The Big Five roam freely in South Africa’s national parks and private reserves. Morning game drives in open vehicles, expert rangers who read the bush like a language, elephants at the waterhole and leopards in the trees. This isn’t a zoo or a theme park, it’s Africa as it’s always been, made accessible by some of the finest luxury lodges on the continent.
The food and wine are exceptional. South Africa’s wine regions, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, the Banhoek Valley, are world-class. The cuisine is inventive, the produce outstanding, and a private chef cooking in your lodge in the Mpumalanga highlands is the kind of experience that makes dinner as memorable as the golf.
It’s better value than you might expect. Compared with Scotland, Ireland, or the United States, South Africa delivers a more immersive, more adventurous experience, and often at a price that surprises people. Our all-inclusive packages mean no hidden costs, no surprises, and no stress.
Our South Africa Golf & Safari Tours
Golf & Tours operates two signature escorted tours to South Africa in 2027, one centred on the Kruger region, Johannesburg and Mpumalanga, and one following the Cape Winelands and Garden Route to Shamwari. Both are 12-day, 5-star journeys designed for small groups of golfers and their partners.
🏌️ Safari & Golf Tour — Johannesburg, Mpumalanga & Kruger National Park
12 Days | 6 Rounds of Golf | 8 Game Drives
This is the definitive golf and safari in South Africa experience. Six rounds across some of the country’s most celebrated courses, eight game drives across two extraordinary reserves, and accommodation that runs from the Five Seasons Westcliff in Johannesburg to the iconic Kruger Shalati, train carriages converted into glass-walled suites suspended above the Sabie River, with hippos and crocodiles moving in the water below.
The Golf:
The tour opens at Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club (ranked #6 in South Africa), a historic club established in 1890 with sweeping championship fairways and beautifully contoured greens that have hosted major PGA Tour events. Day three takes the group to The River Club (ranked #10 in South Africa), an invitation-only course tucked inside Johannesburg’s Sandton district, where shared caddies provide invaluable local insight on a deceptively challenging par-71 layout.
From Johannesburg, the tour moves into the Mpumalanga highlands and Highland Gate Golf & Trout Estate (ranked #19 in South Africa), where the group stays in private luxury homes on a 700-hectare estate. Here, acclaimed private chef Ransley Pietersen takes over. Trained by some of South Africa’s finest chefs and known for his partnership with local winemakers, he crafts dinners around the table that guests talk about for years.
The safari leg begins at Mjejane Private Game Reserve on the banks of the Crocodile River, part of the Greater Kruger. Here you’ll play Kambaku Golf Club, in the wildest corner of the country, at the confluence of the Crocodile and Komati Rivers. Then comes the headline act: Leopard Creek Country Club (ranked #5 in South Africa). The DP World Tour’s Alfred Dunhill Championship venue. Crocodiles in the water hazards. Hippos on the banks. Elephants moving across the fairways. This is what people mean when they say “once in a lifetime.”
The tour finishes at Kruger Shalati – The Train on the Bridge, and at Skukuza Golf Club, the only golf course located inside Kruger National Park. An unfenced layout where the Big Five wander freely across the greens. There’s no other round of golf like it anywhere on earth.

🏌️ Cape Town, Garden Route & Safari Tour
12 Days | 5 Rounds of Golf | 6 Game Drives From
This tour starts in the heart of the Cape Winelands and ends in the Eastern Cape at Shamwari Private Game Reserve, one of South Africa’s most celebrated conservation destinations. In between: five championship rounds across the Western Cape’s finest courses, a guided Stellenbosch wine journey, the famous Franschhoek Wine Tram, and a flight down the Garden Route to the legendary Fancourt Resort.
The Golf:
Staying at De Zeven Guest Lodge, a 5-star manor house perched on the slopes of the Banhoek Valley, the group begins with a guided wine journey through Stellenbosch and the Banhoek Valley before teeing off at Pearl Valley Jack Nicklaus Signature Course (ranked #3 in the Western Cape, #14 in South Africa). Designed by Jack Nicklaus, set against the dramatic Simonsberg mountains, with all-season fairways and intelligent water features, this is a course that gets better with every hole.
After a leisurely afternoon on the Franschhoek Wine Tram, the group flies to George and checks into Fancourt Resort, 613 hectares beneath the Outeniqua Mountains, with three championship courses and facilities that rival any golf resort in the world. Over four days here, guests play four exceptional rounds:
The Outeniqua Course (ranked #8 in the Western Cape) offers one of the most photographed views in South African golf, the par-three 12th, where the Outeniqua Mountains to the north and the Indian Ocean to the south frame a shot that golfers describe for years afterwards.
The Montagu Course (ranked #2 in the Western Cape, #12 in South Africa) was originally designed by Gary Player and has since earned its place among South Africa’s Top 5 courses, a tree-lined parkland layout across undulating indigenous terrain, challenging and deeply satisfying to play.
Pinnacle Point Golf Club (ranked #5 in the Western Cape) sits on a clifftop above the Indian Ocean near Mossel Bay, with 270-degree ocean views, seven holes hugging the cliff face, and four played directly over ocean and cliff. Five tee-box options make it accessible for all abilities. The drama never lets up.
The Links at Fancourt (ranked #1 in the Western Cape, #2 in South Africa) is the crown jewel, a private links course modelled on the great Scottish courses of Dornoch and St Andrews, with deep pot bunkers, rolling fairways, and rugged rough. Host of the iconic 2003 Presidents Cup, where Tiger Woods and Ernie Els produced one of the most memorable tied finishes in golf history. Access is exclusive. On this tour, you’re on it.
The tour closes at Shamwari Private Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape, three nights in the Bayethe Tented Lodge, morning and afternoon game drives with expert rangers in open vehicles, and all meals and drinks included. Shamwari is home to the Big Five and renowned for its rhino conservation and leopard rewilding programs.

Why Travel to South Africa with Golf & Tours
We travel with you. Our expert Golf & Tours hosts are with the group throughout the entire journey, not just at check-in. Every transfer, every round, every dinner. If something needs adjusting, it’s already been handled before you’ve noticed.
We access courses you can’t book independently. The River Club is invitation-only. The Links at Fancourt is a private course with limited access. Leopard Creek requires the right relationships. We have them.
Small groups, by design. We limit our tour numbers so the experience stays personal. You’re travelling with like-minded people, golfers who love great company, great courses, and great stories; these are not large group bus tours.
Everything is genuinely included. Meals, beverages, game drives, green fees, shared carts, internal flights, transfers, gratuities, welcome gifts, competition prizes, and Wi-Fi throughout. The only things not included are international flights, travel insurance, and personal expenses.
Non-golfers are fully catered for. Both South Africa tours include dedicated experiences for non-golfing guests, wine journeys, safari drives, spa time, lodge relaxation, and guided wildlife walks.
