Coolangatta Tweed Golf Club – River Course

Byron Bay Ladies Golf TourThe ultimate Byron Bay golf experience saw 19 ladies from Sydney, Melbourne and Queensland meeting at Coolangatta Airport.  After some quick hellos and introductions we were straight to golf.  Under moody skies we arrived at Coolangatta Tweed Golf Club and had our bags loaded onto our named carts.  We teed off over three holes, on the River Course to ensure we made the most of our time.  The course had nice open fairways, just enough water to keep it interesting and enough bunkers to make the round challenging.  Vicki, Di and Suzanne had good scores, coming first, second and third respectively.  After golf we headed to the club house for welcome drinks and sandwiches where everyone got to know each other a bit better before we boarded the bus for the trip into Byron Bay.  Byron Bay’s pristine coastline is one of the best in Australia and as we checked into our luxury 5 star accommodation at The Byron at Byron Resort & Spa we could see why the resort owners chose this spot for their oasis.  Luxury set amidst nature.

Ocean Shores Golf & Country Club

Byron Bay Ladies Golf TourMany of the ladies decided to refresh the spirit, remedy the soul and replenish the senses at yoga, surrounded by the rainforest on the resort’s Spa Deck before breakfast.  This was the perfect way to stretch out our muscles after yesterdays golf, and before we hit our next course. At a very respectable 10am we boarded the bus and travelled the short distance to Ocean Shores Golf & Country Club.  Situated on a hilltop the Club boasts spectacular panoramic hinterland and ocean views. Our PGA Professional tour host took us straight to the practice area for an intensive 1 hour clinic on putting.  This helped to give us all some new skills, and something more to focus on during our round.  Ocean Shores is set in an area of natural flora with tidal lakes, rivers and mountain ranges as it’s backdrop which makes it one of the most spectacular golf courses in Northern NSW.

Day at Leisure

Byron Bay Ladies Golf TourAfter two days of golf, there is nothing lovelier than a day to relax and explore the area you are holidaying in, especially knowing you have more golf the following day.  The morning was spent in various ways by our guests, which was perfect.  Everyone did exactly as they wanted.  There were morning yoga classes, day spa experiences, walks to Cape Byron and the lighthouse and the rest just enjoyed exploring the township of Byron Bay. There are fabulous shops, boutiques, cafe’s, pubs and restaurants to indulge in.  Byron has so many attractions apart from the usual surfing and sunbaking.  To make the most of this ultimate Byron Bay golf experience, in the late afternoon many of the ladies chose to enjoy a long lunch at Three Blue Ducks, set on a gorgeous farm on Byron’s outskirts.  The food was absolutely delicious, and the setting and scenery was just divine.

Ballina Golf Club

Byron Bay Ladies Golf TourGlorious sunshine greeted us as we awoke refreshed after our day at leisure yesterday.  Many of the ladies on this tour have taken advantage of the private golf lessons that we have offered each morning, so were raring to get back to golf.  The weather was absolutely perfect as we teed off on this tree lined course, nestled next to the stunning North Creek in East Ballina.  The gardens and landscaping were beautiful and we all enjoyed the assistance of the PGA Professional as she gave us tips and demonstrations off many of the courses’ tee boxes.  That evening we enjoyed a lovely farewell dinner at the resort, indulging in a 2 course dinner that the chef had prepared from that morning’s visit to the local Farmers Market.

Byron Bay Golf Club

Byron Bay Ladies Golf TourAfter one last delicious breakfast, the group checked out of the resort and made their way to the Byron Bay Golf Club, located across the street.  One final golf clinic before we found out golf carts and teed off down the steep Par 5 1st hole.  Set out on 120 acres of lush coastal habitat, the course is beautifully landscaped.  Gently undulating with a bit of water, but not too much sand had us all enjoying the final round of golf on our ultimate Byron Bay golf experience.  This round had some very good scores, and most of the ladies found that their golf game had improved over the course of the week.  After a few quick goodbyes, it was on to the bus for one final drive through Byron Bay on our way back to Coolangatta Airport.  Thank you to everyone who joined Golf & Tours on our Byron Bay ladies golf Retreat.  It really is the wonderful ladies who choose to join us that make it the ultimate Byron Bay golf experience.  Hope to see you on another tour soon!
